How to Register: Register online. If you are mailing in your registration form, send it to: Utah Summer Games Registration, 351 West University Blvd., Cedar City, UT 84720. Team registration is not complete until full payment is received by USG at which time the team's slot is confirmed for the tournament.  Please note that online registration is strongly encouraged.

Registration Deadline: All completed USG Team Registration forms, as well as payment must be received by April 30, 2008. Registrations will be limited to the first 195 teams that submit complete registration information and payment.  A small number of additional teams may be accepted at the discretion of the Soccer Committee in order to fill out brackets.

Refund Policy: Due to competition scheduling difficulties and USG planning and supplies requirements, registration fees will not be refunded unless the Utah Summer Games office receives a written withdrawal and request for refund before April 30.  If an event cannot be held due to inclement weather a voucher may be issued to be used for another sport during the 2008 or the same sport during the 2009 Utah Summer Games. Withdrawal requests must be submitted in writing by email to USG@suu.edu or by mail to Utah Summer Games Registration, 352 West University Blvd., Cedar City, UT 84720.

Confirmation: Internet Registrations will immediately receive a confirmation e-mail. Mailed or delivered registrations can check the schedule once it is posted on the Internet.

Coach and Player Pass: Each player and coach are required to have a laminated , picture player identification card (player passes from the team's respective parent soccer organization, Permanent Utah Identification Card or official Utah Summer Games identification card).  Utah Summer Games identification cards may be obtained at check-in by presenting a copy of the player’s birth certificate or driver license and paying a fee of $5.00 per pass.  The person desiring the identification card must be present to have their photograph taken.  Summer Games Identification Cards may be obtained only during the hours of the Team Check-In noted below.  Temporary Utah Identification Cards, school activity cards, driver licenses and military identification cards are not accepted. Passes must include the name, birth date and photograph of the participant.  Teams may use passes from multiple sources as long as they meet these requirements.  Passes must be issued by an organization, other than the team, that verifies the age of players.

Check-In: All teams must check in on Wednesday, June 11, between Noon and 7:00 PM. at the SUU Sorenson PE Building, 400 West University Blvd., Cedar City.  This will be the only opportunity for check in.  Teams will not be allowed to participate without first checking the team in.  No additions to team rosters after final check-in are allowed.  U-11 through U-19 teams are limited to a roster of 18 players and three coaches.  U-10 teams are limited to a roster of 14 players and three coaches.  Coaches, or an authorized adult team representative, MUST bring the following for check in:

  1. Completed Team Waiver with every coach and player listed.  The form must include each player’s full name and birth date and the waiver form must be signed by the parent of each player who is younger than 18 years of age and by each player who is 18 years of age or older.
  2. Individual player passes for EVERY player and Coach listed on the roster. (see Coach and Player Pass section)
  3. Teams are encouraged to bring a photo copy of each player’s birth certificate in case questions arise regarding eligibility.  As noted above, a copy of the birth certificate or the person’s driver license must be presented in order to obtain a Utah Summer Games ID card.

Age Groups: Determined by age as of July 31, 2007.  See Format below and the Tournament Rules for further information.

Rules: Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) Laws of the Games apply, except as modified in order to benefit the youth players by the Utah Summer Games Soccer Committee.  Each team is expected to print and review the Complete Soccer Tournament Rules.

Equipment and Clothing: Appropriate and approved soccer attire is required (see FIFA Law IV). Each player is required to have an alternate color jersey and the home team  is required to change color in case of color conflict.

Format: Teams will play a minimum of three games. Teams will be eliminated in pool play with the top teams (based on points earned) from each division qualifying for the semifinals and finals. Most two-year age divisions will be split into sub-divisions based on the age and relative ability of teams.  The Soccer Committee expends considerable effort to assign teams to subdivisions in as fair a manner as possible based on information available.  Except in very rare circumstances, requests for changes in sub-divisions will not be considered.  The final decision on assigning teams to divisions and sub-divisions rests with the Soccer Committee.  The Soccer Committee reserves the right to bracket same age group and gender teams as necessary to fill brackets.

Each division or sub-division will have its own semifinal and final matches. Depending on the number or teams, some divisions or sub-divisions may not have semifinal matches or may have the third game provided through a semifinal game or a game between third place finishers in flights.

Game Schedules:  It is anticipated that game schedules will be posted to this web site by May 31, 2008.  Teams are responsible for monitoring this site for notices of schedule changes occurring prior to the beginning of the tournament.  Due to the large number of teams that register and games that are scheduled, requests for multiple team scheduling conflicts can not be accommodated.

Soccer Headquarters and Results:  Soccer headquarters is in a classroom at the southeast corner of Canyon View High School.  Results are posted on the windows at the southeast corner of Canyon View High School as they are received from the game officials.  Wednesday evening results will not be posted until Thursday morning.  Teams are responsible for monitoring the posted scores and schedules to be aware of assignments for semi-final and medal games, tie-breaker requirements, and any schedule changes.  Results will be posted on the Summer Games web site following the tournament.

Medals Ceremony:  Gold, silver and bronze medals are awarded in each bracket (i.e. Girls U14 Red).  Immediately following the medal games, the top three teams in each bracket should proceed to the south end of the SUU Coliseum to receive their medals.

Lodging: Secure lodging as soon as possible by calling our sponsors or call the Iron County Lodging Hotline at (800) 354-4849. Other Lodging options may be available on the Utah Summer Games lodging page. Please be courteous of other teams trying to make reservations by canceling unneeded rooms.
