ALL STAR TOURNAMENT INFORMATION
June 20th & 21st
- BOYS HS ALL STAR TEAMS - More information on the format, breakdown of All Star Teams listed below.
The idea of the Utah Summer Games becoming an elite tournament is centered on the hope of producing a greater motivation for players during the regular season. The culmination of these efforts would be their recognition and participation on one of 4 regionally organized teams, competing for the title of strongest region in the Utah High School Lacrosse League. It is the hope and intent of the planning committee that the Utah Summer Games (USG) can become a prestigious annual event, showcasing the best lacrosse talent and competition in Utah. The primary pool for player selection will come from the All Conference teams, Combining both Div 1 and Div 2 players on the same teams by region. Rewarding All State Selected players with games to showcase the best talent in the state. Players from non represented teams will be used to fill gaps by position if needed.
Team Coaching Organization: The organization of the above mentioned regional teams will begin each year with the selection of coaches for these teams. With the intent of maintaining a regional representation on all 4 teams, the coaching staffs will be selected from elected members of the UHSLL Coach’s council, with additional participation from coaches of the finalist teams in the UHSLL state tournament, as well as the coaches of the year.
The quantity, style, and location of team practices will be at the discretion of the coaching staff. There will be no minimum or maximum, but coaches will be encouraged to organize as many practices as necessary to allow their team a successful competitive experience, as well as adequate time to bond and develop a team mentality for representing their respective region.
Team Selection: 4 Attack, 5 Defense, 9 Midfield (including LSM and FO selections), 2 Goalies
Head coaches will have the responsibility of contacting All Conference selections from their respective regions to invite them to the tournament. It is hoped that representation can be seen from each team in the UHSLL. Therefore, in the expected event that some All Conference selections will not participate, USG coaches may contact other coaches from their regions to request recommendations for players that would appropriately fill vacancies in the team. It will be the responsibility of the Head Coach of each regional team to adequately fill their roster before the tournament.
Players will be subject to a $25 equipment fee, which will cover their uniforms for the tournament, Players will keep there shorts and jersey. The registration expense for the event will be paid by the UHSLL.
Each team will participate in a total of 5 games consisting of four 12 minute running time quarters, with the option of additional games on a challenge basis.
