Wednesday, March 8, 2006
Reflecting the fast growth of Lacrosse nationally and in Utah, the Utah Summer Games announced today it has added a two-day boy's lacrosse tournament to its June 2006 sports schedule. Up to ten Utah high school teams are expected to compete in the inaugural competition.
"Lacrosse in Utah has grown at more than 30 percent a year for the past five years," Kyle Case, Utah Summer Games Director, said. "It’s an exciting field sport that complements the overall Summer Games event schedule."
The tournament is planned for Friday and Saturday, June 23 - 24, at Cedar Middle School (1865 North Main Street, Cedar City, UT). It is open to current high school players or 2006 graduates. For more information, visit www.utahsummergames.org/sports/lacrosse.html or call the ULA at (801) 255-5343.
Sherie Holst, a ULA board member, is the Utah Summer Games lacrosse coordinator for the event. “Developing good sportsmanship is important to the ULA, and to take part in the Olympics-like atmosphere of the Utah Summer Games is an added benefit for all of our participants.”
