Utah Summer Games Torch Ceremonies in Logan , “Magical”

Saturday, June 5 at Logan 's Willow Park , the Utah Summer Games hosted another Torch Ceremony.
Stew Morrill lights the cauldronMark Barton, Southern Utah University Vice President for Advancement emceed the event, presenting Stew Morrill, University of Utah men's basketball coach, with a special award of recognition for his contributions to local athletics. Morrill, after accepting the award also lit the Utah Summer Games traveling-cauldron.
The Logan Torch Ceremony follows the kick-off which took place on the steps of the State Capitol, hosted by Governor Olene Walker. Malad, Idaho based Roughstock, a country western band rounded out the night with a musical performance.
“The night was nothing short of magical,” said Barton. “Those in attendance had a ball.”
The Utah Summer Games, Utah 's oldest amateur sports festival, is celebrating its 19th year with over 40 sports to choose from, including Karate, Tae Kwon Do, and Horseshoes.
