Utah Summer Games Flame Continues Its Journey

Saturday, June 5 at 8:00 p.m. at Logan's Willow Park, the Utah Summer Games flame will make its second stop on its journey across the state. The Torch Ceremony will immediately follow the Quest for the Best musical contest hosted by Logan City.
Mayor Doug Thompson is scheduled to host the event and will be presenting an award to a local sports figure that has made a major contribution to athletics in the area. Malad , ID based country group Roughstock is slated to finish out the night with its unique brand of country.
The Logan Torch Ceremony comes on the heels of the kick-off which took place on the steps of the State Capitol. Governor Olene Walker lit the traveling cauldron, a replica of the full sized-version, which awaits the flame in Eccles Coliseum in Cedar City . Governor Walker encouraged the crowd, which consisted of approximately 150 elementary school children, to “Raise the Bar” by making healthy choices and striving to be better people.
“It's incredibly exciting to have the Utah Summer Games flame traveling across the entire state,” said Kyle Case, Utah Summer Games Director. “We want people to know that these are the Utah Summer Games and everyone is invited to be a part of the action.”
The Utah Summer Games, Utah 's oldest amateur sports festival, is celebrating its 19th year with over 40 sports to choose from including Wrestling, Bowling and Golf.
