Utah Summer Games Night with the Warriors a Real Success… Sort Of
Wednesday, May 5, 2004
The Utah Warriors and the Utah Summer Games teamed up on Saturday, May 1, 2004, to bring you the Utah Summer Games Night with the Warriors.
“We were very excited to be able to team up with the Warriors last Saturday,” commented Kyle Case, Utah Summer Games Director. “They are a very classy organization and worked had to make the night a success.”
The crowd of 7,649 people was a record for the Warriors, being the most people ever jammed into the E-Center for an indoor football match-up.
Case was on hand for the ceremonial coin-toss at the beginning of the game. “That was a real thrill,” commented Case. “I haven't been on the 50-yard line of a football field with the crowd cheering like that since my high school days. It was really cool.”
“We look forward to continuing the tradition we began this year,” Rory Swenson, Marketing Director for the Warriors stated. “We had a great crowd, a great time and a great game.”
The only downer of the evening was the final score, with the Warriors coming up short, 49 to 51 at the buzzer. In true great-game fashion the contest was decided on the last possession when Jeremy Scott of the Wyoming Calvary forced a fumble and the Calvary recovered with just seconds on the clock.
Case wishes to thank those that took the time to visit the Utah Summer Games table to ask questions and pick up their free gift. “We had a great time and look forward to another one next year,” said Case.
The Utah Summer Games is Utah 's oldest amateur athletic event and hosts over 40 different sports including Baseball, Gymnastics and Volleyball.
