Demar "Bud" Bowman

Bud Bowman 

Bud Bowman served for 16 years in the Utah State House of Representatives, where he became known as a friend to Southern Utah University. Bowman died in 2009 after a long siege with cancer.

After graduation for Utah State in 1951, Bud began a 30-year career with the Utah Highway Patrol before embarking on his second career as a representative from District 72, which included Cedar City and SUU.

Bowman was instrumental in procuring funds for many university buildings and projects, and was considered a champion of the people he represented. In 2010, SUU dedicated and named its new intra-mural field complex in his honor.

Bowman is sorely missed and remembered fondly.
